A Litle Too Casual

I'm starting to think I'm too casual for this job. Not that it's that fancy of a job anyway- I'm a receptionist at a car dealership for crying out loud. But even so, my boss still has standards and I still have to act like I'm in a professional work place.
But sometimes I forget where I am, or my brain decides to reset half way through the work day and I do something incredibly silly or just straight...well...casual.

Like today for instance. A customer called wanting to schedule an oil change. So, I was going to transfer them to the Service department like I usually do. But instead of saying something along the lines of "Let me transfer you to service and they'll take care of you," I said "Lemme transfer you to service and they can hook you up with one."
Another instance was earlier last week. an elderly customer, probably in her late 80s was waiting for her car to be serviced. As I walked by she smiled up at me and said hello. And instead of greeting her in return and offering assistance should she need it, I merely looked her dead in the eye and gave her a thumbs up.

I'd love to think of myself as a responsible adult in a professional workplace, but it's little instances like these that remind me that I still have some growing to do...
