*phone rings, I reach to answer it*
*phone slips from my hand right after I pick it up, hitting the desk hard*
What I can only assume the poor customer on the other line heard:
"BANG......thank you for calling [insert company name], how may I help you?"

*phone rings, I answer*
"Thank you for-" *suddenly phone slips from between my shoulder and ear and falls of the desk, hitting the ground before proceeding to dangle from it's cord. I reach over to pick up the phone*
"I'm so sorry; this is [insert company name], may I help you?"
"What just happened?"
"I uh...I dropped the phone, sir..."
*chuckles* "Oh, okay. I thought you'd been attacked or something!"
*embarrassed chuckle* "No, sir. I'm alright."

"I'm sorry, Mr. Smith is unavailable. Can I take a message?"
*realizes that there is no pen with the message pad*
*proceeds to try and sound calm and professional while attempting to memorize this person's info as I scramble to find any sort of writing utensil*
